Motivational Interviewing for Physiotherapists
london - 2026
saturday 17th oct
ABOUT:
A One-Day Immersive, Skills-Focused Workshop with Integrated Online Follow-Up
This one-day face-to-face introductory workshop offers a rare and deeply practical opportunity for qualified UK physiotherapists to develop their confidence in bringing Motivational Interviewing (MI) to their clinical practice. Delivered collaboratively by Chris Higgs and Dr Maddy Nicholson, two of a very small number of physiotherapists worldwide who are members of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers, this workshop represents an unprecedented level of profession-specific MI training.
The programme has been intentionally designed for physiotherapists working across a broad range of clinical contexts, including musculoskeletal care, persistent pain, rehabilitation, long-term conditions, return-to-work, and community health. It moves well beyond theory-only teaching to prioritise experiential learning, deliberate skills practice, and quality feedback.
This is not a generic communication course. It is MI, taught by physiotherapists, for physiotherapists, grounded in real clinical scenarios and the realities of contemporary UK practice.
This workshop is suitable for CPD portfolios and reflective practice requirements. Participants will receive confirmation of attendance and learning hours, with content aligned to evidence-based communication and behaviour-change practice.
Places are intentionally limited to protect the learning experience.
